I remember the day, so vivid and clear,
My little girl, with black hair, oh so dear,
Decorating a box with gold paper so bright,
I punished her for wasting it all night.
But then she gave me the gift so sweet,
"This is for you, Daddy," she said with a beat,
I opened the box, and found it empty,
Anger boiled inside, my heart felt heavy.
"Don't you know," I said with a stern voice,
"A gift should have something, that's the choice."
Tears in her eyes, she looked at me,
"Daddy, this box is full, can't you see?
I filled it with kisses, all for you."
I was stunned, my heart, it felt so true,
Embarrassment hit, I begged for her grace,
Holding her close, tears streaming down my face.
That golden box, I kept it near,
A reminder of love, so pure and clear,
In times of sadness, or when I felt blue,
I opened the box, and thought of her love so true.
Unconditional love, a precious treasure,
From my child, my family, my friends and my pleasure,
A box of love, I hold so dear,
A gift, so priceless, to me it's clear.
